Loyalty Program Cards VS. Tracking By Phone Number…..The Winner is Clear
I was cleaning out my wallet the other day and realized I had some loyalty cards from some different places that I frequent but they are all jammed in there like sardines and I always forget about them. I had two of them from the same place each with one stamp through it. I know I have been there 15 times in the past couple of years, but it just slipped my mind. I have missed out on two free subs as a result. There are so many places I go to now that have loyalty programs, but they all have these credit card like swipe cards. I don't have room for these in my wallet. So I just decline, get my meal and move on. I realize I am missing out on free opportunities, but the hassle of having all these cards is not worth it. As a result, I am not as loyal to any of these places I go to since I don't realize the value of the loyalty program. I am sure if there was a way to keep track of my loyalty like my grocery store Safeway does it, I would participate in more loyalty programs. Safeway does it with my phone number. Phone numbers don't clog your wallet or purse. I would be part of other loyalty programs and realize this benefit and perhaps be more loyal to places like I am to my grocery store if it were just this easy. I am very loyal to my grocery store and I have no problem putting in my phone number every time. Plus the kiosk to do so is right there at check out in front of your face, you can't miss it and there is no forgetting about it.
